Welcome to this website which provides information about the Safeguarding Children Research Initiative and the 11 studies forming the Initiative, which is jointly funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Department of Health (DH).

 

DCSF and DH recognise the importance of child protection and the need for high quality research evidence to support policy and practice. They have prioritised safeguarding and child protection for research funding. The result of this commitment is the DH/DCSF jointly funded Safeguarding Children Research Initiative. This research programme is designed to strengthen the evidence base in the area of child protection, and support the Government's programme of reform to improve early recognition and effective intervention to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
